I specialize in children, preteens, and teens. I started my career as a school counselor and will always keep room on my caseload for our youth. I started ITSCO to give more school-aged children an opportunity to see skilled, licensed, and dedicated therapists to meet their needs.

I believe every individual and family is unique and wonderful, so I draw from a variety of strategies. Typically I focus on  humanistic and Person-centered counseling which focuses on congruence/genuineness, unconditional positive regard, and empathy.  I like to use interventions from CBT, DBT, mindfulness, Narrative Therapy, as well as art therapy and play therapy.

Navigating life's problems is each of our responsibility and sometimes it is beneficial to find someone to step into our lives and encourage us to make the decisions that can help carve a path to better. A path that is tailored to YOUR specific needs that makes sense for YOU.

My populations are kids aged 4 to 17, adults, and couples. I see clients on weekends and my caseload is typically 70% youth and 30% adults. My client gender breakdown is also 70/30 with men and boys as the majority. My approaches are based on the tenants of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Rational-Emotive Behavioral Therapy, and Synergetic Play Therapy.

I have a passion for supporting the development disability community, especially parents, caregivers, and siblings. I work with clients and families who may have an intellectual, developmental or a behavioral diagnosis. I also have a passion for working with families who are seeking healing after domestic violence, specifically families who are beyond the initial crisis intervention who are now beginning a new life after Domestic Violence.

I believe that building trust, understanding, and mutual respect is essential to any counseling relationship. I do not expect a client to trust me or take her advice right away. I am prepared and excited to earn the trust of my client and get to know them as a whole person, not just their problems.

I believe everyone deserves a second chance. No matter what our difficulties are in the past and present, it does not define who we are in the future. I am a lifelong learner who tries to instill the same passion in my clients as education is the key to unlocking our future. I strive to advocate for children as they learn to express their needs and desires. I use my background as a teacher, school counselor, and administrator to help facilitate the change necessary to unlock a better future.

I have experience with students as they experience pre-deployment, deployment, and post-deployment in group settings where they are able to build relationships and bonds with others experiencing the same situation. I have worked with youth as they have advocated their identity and then supported their needs as they have “come out” to their loved ones.

My ideal client suffers with low self-esteem, incomplete identity formation, and attachment issues. Their goal is to feel connected to their community and gain a sense of purpose. They need to understand the importance of their role and a sense of their strengths. They want reassurance of their worth to give meaning and understanding to their actions. This is vital in developing a strong self-concept necessary for strong relationship skills, self mangement, and responsible decision making.

I offer an allyship to clients as a source of strength for self-exploration and building interpersonal relational skills. I build empathy through active listening and invite potential clients through the use of psychoeducation in gently redirection from false narratives regarding psychology.

I try to meet my client where they are at. If they aren't ready to dig deep with me yet, I try to establish rapport by getting to know the client and allowing them to get to know me. My number one passion is suicide prevention. I experienced the loss of someone via suicide at a young age and I aspire to support others through their darkest moments. I also have a love for pinup and I participate in pinup contests!

I use a Rogerian approach to therapy. I believe in using Unconditional Positive Regard and empathy with all clients I come across, which I find to be especially helpful in working with young teens. My passion is to work with adolescent clients who are working through stress, anxiety, depression and/or LGBTQ+ issues.
